Acne Wash

Greetings all.

Lots of people out there suffering from Acne yes?! Many people with acne have the mistaken impression that the cause is dirty skin. As a result, they become overzealous face scrubbers. Aggressive and frequent washing actually aggravates the condition contrary to some popularly used products!!

Besides, washing the skin’s surface doesn’t rid the folicles of bacteria and excess oils, the real reason for bacteria. It is better to wash gentley with a mild cleanser. Morning and evening is often enough. Hormonal upsets and other internal causes can be behind the over production of the oils so it is best to look into those as well as to treat topically.

A great recepie for a gentle yet highly effective herbal wash that is anti-bacterial is below.

2 Teaspoons chopped dried oregon grapefruit or Golden Seal root.

450 ml of water.

Simmer all imgredients for 10-15 minutes. Strain and cool. Use to wash face or soak a clean cloth and use as compress.

Alternatively you can make a paste.

1 Teaspoon dried powdered Oregon grapefuit or Golden Sea; root. A few drops of water

5 drops of Lavedar oil.

Mix all ingredients. Apply to pimples; let dry or gentley wash off.

These herbs contain Berberine and Oregon grapefuit will stain fabric so be careful!

Try these out the next time you have a break out. I’d love to read your comments and other methods you have tried as well so feel free to comment!

Have a great day!

Eczema – Omega Nutrients Can Help

Greetings folks.

Eczema is a problem faced by many the world over and there are many herbal and general natural treatments that are effective and freely available. Having said that there is one specific ingredient that is most important that we should all be eating everyday and that is omega 3 fatty acids. You see fatty acid imbalance is often found with eczema.

Basically they need more of the omega-3 fatty acids (the kind found in cold water fish and flaxseeds) and more of the omega-6 fatty acid called gamma-linolenic acid (found in borage, blackcurrant and evening primrose seeds).

Some studies have found that medicinal oils rich in omega-6, such as evening primrose oil, improve the condition markedly. One suggested dose for evening primrose oil is 3000mg (3gm) in a capsule each day.

Other studies show benefits from fish oil, a rich source of omega-3. Flaxseed oil contains alpha-linolenic acid which the body can transform to omega-3 acids that occur in fish oils. If you really want to boost your overall health along with your skin’s health, incorporate into your diet foods rich in omega 3’s like cold water fish (mackerel, salmon, herring, sardines, anchovies), ground flaxseeds, pumpkin seeds, walnuts and dark green leafy vegetables!

This will all go a long way towards helping you with this condition as well as helping your blood health, mind and mental condition, joints and much more!

Have a great day!

Massage & Immunity

Greetings folks.

I have been massaging for a number of years professionally and I am often asked what benefits massage has for people. Well, where to begin! Massage has been used for thousands of years to both relieve soreness and tension and to help with healing. Massage benefits the person on many levels but one area I am always asked about it whether or not it can influence immunity.

The answer to this is yes it can! It has quite a positive effect on immunity as massage will stimulate and enhance lymphatic flow. For those of you that do not know much about this, lymph fluid flows between the cells and is what watses etc are passed into from cellular activity. The lymph nodes collect this waste and it is then excreted via the various systems and organs of elimination. Correct elimination means a clear system and no toxins etc to cause infections or inhibit function as the lymph also takes away foreign bacteria and viral particles.

Regular massage helps to keep this particular system flowing and operating at optimum levels thereby making it harder for these nasties to take hold. Massage also stimulates the release of feel good hormones and this also helps with lowering stress and this helps immunity as well. Stress will inhibit the immune system considerably and it is often very stressed and run down people that suffewr from constant immune issues.

Regular massage also stimulate and enhances blood circulation which sees all areas of the body receiving more oxygen and nutrients as well as immune cells and yep, you guessed it, this aids immunity as well. oxygen especially. So apart from providing you with regular relief from tension and stress, massage will also benefit immune functioning. I often have clients come to me with a stuffy nose which I can help to clear by massaging certain areas of the neck. Many of my regular clients report improved wellbeing from massage and far fewer incidents of colds and flu and most all report an improvement in mobility.

Massage is a wonderful and simple way to greatly improve your wellbeing, consider it today as part of your ongoing committment to wellness and good health.

Have a great day!
