Howdy everyone!
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome CTS is a particularly painful condition of the wrist that is often associated with repetitive strain and injury. There are many ways to help this condition such as Acupuncture, Surgery and physiotherapy. There is also some nutritional ways to help alleviate the pain and inflammation associated with this condition. If you’re at risk of developing carpal tunnel syndrome you may want to check your intake of the following nutrients:
Vitamin B6
Clinical data strongly suggests that Vit B6 deficiency may contribute to CTS. While 25mg of B6 is considered adequate, some treatments for CTS involve taking200mg for 2-3 weeks, then half that dose for another 1-2 weeks. Results are not usually seen for a month or sometimes 6 weeks. Caution though as taking high doses of Vit B6 can be toxic. This vitamin works best in combination with others so it is best discussed with your health care professional.
Vitamin C with Bioflavanoids
This broad spectrum nutrient is vital to tissue repair and healing and it can contribute to reducing inflammation. Vitamin C also plays a significant role in connective tissue regeneration. Typical dose is 1000mg with each of three meals.
Bromelain
Anyone who requires surgery for CTS should take bromelain for it’s ability to reduce swelling and inflammation. If you choose not to under go surgery, bromelain helps prevent further tissue inflammation. Typical dose is 500mg 1-3 times daily.
Grapeseed Extract
Also known as pycnogenol, this compound contains powerful compounds that inhibit swelling and inflammation. Added benfit; it’s good for the heart. Typical dosages is 500mg 2-3 times per day.
Fish oils
Fish oils containing omega3, 6 nutrients are great for helping inflammation and reducing pain in joints as well as their heart and brain health factors.
These simple measures have been shown to greatly assist with this condition so maybe you should give them a shot.
I’d love to hear about your experiences with CTS and any remedies you have tried.
Have a great day!
