So You Wanna Change The World?

“The world is a changing place, nothing in this world is permanent.” ” He is who thinks he is.” All these quotes come from Buddha and they are as relevent now as they were when he first spoke them. Our world is changing and more to the point, the people that live here who value peace, compassion and equality etc are the one’s changing it. This includes you too! We are changing the world each and every day with our thoughts that are resulting in our actions that are resulting in change. The more of us that come to the realisation that we are responsible for what happens to us via our thoughts and actions and make the decision to change for the positive, the more we see our world change.
No one person or entity will change the way our world is, we will ALL do it together. In order for this to happen, we must take reposibility for ourselves and our minds and resultant actions on an individual level. When you do this and begin to commit to a more peaceful, compassionate and honest way of living and conducting yourself, you begin to manifest positive actions. Now multiply this by the millions of others in this world and we see a powerful force for positive change. It starts with you taking responsibility for you.
The world is changing
We are seeing the results of some of these changes now. Once upon a time if you were dealt an injustice you would go to the authorities or government to seek proper action and get a resolution. Sadly though in our current time of flux, governments, authorities and the like, are far from efficient, trustworthy or honest. How many times have you seen a person done over by a bank or other type of giant corporation try to seek out resolution the “right” way only to end up shafted or worse, made out to be the perpetrator! So what do these people do?
They take their problem to the people! When these types of situations are exposed on the news media, we see a swift and miraculous solution and compensation resolution in almost every case. None of these types of dishonest and unethical types of institutions want negative publicity because they know the true power for all things lays with YOU! People are beginning to wake up to this. Want something done, talk to a reporter and expose it, you’ll soon have it done.
We, the people hold the true power, not the governments, not the banks, not the giant corporations, we do and we can manifest great change when we realise that on mass. The above example is just one simple example, another is the relief efforts that are conducted every time a disaster strikes. Perhaps a different way to view such events is looking at it as a way the universe has implemented to spread the wealth a little to those that need it most and to allow us to see the true value of helping others and being fair minded. Let’s face it, as the current state of western society stands, nobody would give to these nations and people otherwise would they? It is just more greed as per normal!
Be the change you want to see.
So we return to the beginning. Start with your own mind. Place less emphasis on the material and more on what matters; fun, family, generosity, compassion, peace, kindness. Work to still your mind and clear your “waffling” thoughts and make a committment to YOURSELF to live more in accordance with your heart’s truth and less to what society says you should do, or should have and so on. Live to more positive values that are lasting and bring lasting happiness, not just momentary gratification. Don’t be sold on and fooled by the greedy individuals telling you that you need to have this or that, do this or that to be accepted or “up with the latest”. Fads come and go quickly but happiness can be everlasting when it is sought out truly. These others just want to empty your wallet into their accounts, they care nothing for your wellbeing at all.
By making these changes in yourself you are helping to change the world. “He is who thinks he is” means by changing your mindset to the positive you want in the world, you will manifest it. The Buddha knew this long ago and he also knew that for it to manifest, it must come from the heart and be motivated by a genuine want for positivity. BE the change you want in the world and it will come to be.
Enjoy the contemplation!
